Many (probably most) of the best help a founder will receive will come from people they know. Since other founders are the very best source of help, a founder’s network should include lots of other founders.
Regrettably, traditional networking events are chock full of everyone except founders and most events are transactional and don’t support building relationships. In short, they are often a terrible use of time for founders. Poker turns out to be the remedy, a remarkable vehicle for founders and investors to build relationships — as long as the poker tables are filled with other founders and investors.
