Startup Haven Member Workshops

GroundWork Milestone Workshops

In these interactive sessions, up to five Startup Haven company founders will present their next strategic milestone for an exploration of its cogency — i.e., is it the right milestone? Would investors agree? What does the milestone unlock, what needs to be true in order to reach it, and what assumptions underlie it? We will use the principles used in the GroundWork Growth methodology, the curriculum taught in the Startup Haven Accelerator program.

Each of the selected companies will have 3 minutes to present detail and context on the milestone they want to evaluate. Experienced founders and investors with knowledge of the GroundWork Growth methodology will help the founder explore the cogency of their milestone.

If you would like to be a presenter, please submit this questionnaire in advance. If you are not selected for the current session, we hope you’ll still consider sitting in to listen. It can be very helpful to listen to other founders talk through the challenges and opportunities they face. Each session will begin with a high-level overview of the GroundWork Growth Methodology.

Capital Strategy Workshop

Fundraising is hard. A slick pitch deck and a confident story are seldom enough, even in the best of times. And we are not in the best of times.

If you don’t look like a top-decile company to your target investors, then you may not be doing it right. If you don’t know what it would mean to look like a top-decile startup to your target investors, then you’re definitely doing it wrong.

This interactive workshop dives into the key decisions every founder must make in order to run an efficient fundraising process and maximize their chances for success — when to raise, who to raise from, how much to raise, at what valuation, for what runway. We’ll also explore these topics:

What does it mean to look like a top-decile startup?
What milestones should you already have already achieved before raising?
What milestones do your investors expect you to achieve next after raising?
How investors think and the essence of investor diligence.

This workshop begins with an overview of the key elements of a cogent fundraise. The second half is a Q&A for founders to raise specific questions about their own fundraising strategy. The principles covered in this workshop apply to mostly to pre-seed to Series A fundraising.

Pitch Coaching

Startup Haven Pitch Coaching sessions are not just pitch deck feedback. Presenters decide what to focus on and then get in-depth, no-nonsense advice from experienced founders and investors — what’s good, what’s bad, and what can make it better.

If you would like to be a presenter, please send your pitch deck to [email protected] (optional). If you are not selected for the current session, we hope you’ll still consider sitting in to listen. It can be very helpful to listen to other founders receive pitch feedback.
