2018 Poker 2.0 League Winners – San Francisco

The San Francisco chapter results for the 2018 Startup Poker 2.0 League Championship are in. This year's SF member winner is Cory Bray with 39 points. Technically, Cory placed second behind our stalwart sponsor, Kellam Nelson from Colliers International. Lucky for Cory that our sponsors are not eligible to win the members' league championship medallion. And lucky for Kellam that his score qualifies as the [...]

Event Recap: San Diego, December 2018

December is the month of holiday parties, traveling and running around, so we typically do not host a game. However over the last 11 months we realized just how many small startups are thriving in San Diego, some with remote teams, or teams of 1 and 2, so we decided to host a holiday game! Thank you to our GoShare Hosts for the space at [...]

Event Recap: Portland, December 2018

Portland, OR was truly a winter wonderland for poker night. Unfortunately in the Pacific Northwest, that means downpours and whipping gusts of wind. That didn't stop our cavalier cohort of card sharks from getting together for the holiday edition of Startup Poker. With everyone in the giving mood, we had one of our biggest pots of the year, and in the end it was Christa [...]

Event Recap: Portland, November 2018

As a warm up to gathering around the table with loved ones to be thankful, the Portland squad gathered around the poker table with fellow cutthroats and complained about their 2 - 7 off suit hand. In the end it was Alex Z. who took home the pot with his patented "bet big because I need to get out of here right now" betting strategy. [...]

We missed a lot of you this month at Founders Poker, but a committed bunch made the trek up to Carlsbad for a North County game. We host a game in North County once a quarter to ensure we are including the entire community. If you're in the downtown area we highly suggest finding some car pool buddies and joining us for the next one. [...]

Event Recap: Portland, October 2018

The Halloween edition of Startup Poker was a monstrously good time! A group of almost twenty got together to talk cards and startups. Special thanks to Cliff DeGroot from Davis Wright Tremaine for sharing some truly spooky stories about double trigger vesting and acquisitions. At the end of the day former chapter director Brandon Cannady took home his first silver chip since handing over the reigns.   [...]

Event Recap: Portland, September 2018

The Fall season got off to a great start down at Cloudability. The night started right, with some delicious tamales that were remarkably hard to unwrap. The action was hot, and that pot waiting for the winners at the final table was huge. Portland Startup Poker's Fall season is proving to be the best one yet. Winners: 1st: Christa King 2nd: Jae Shin 3rd: Lloyd [...]

Event Recap: Silicon Valley, September 2018

This month, we were hosted by Nordic Innovation House in downtown Palo Alto, a wonderful little hub for Nordic startups laying their roots in Silicon Valley. Thank you for hosting us! And as always, a big thank you to our sponsors, WSGR and Colliers, for their continued support. Your dedication to founders is deeply appreciated. We had a mix of regulars and new faces, including [...]
