2014-04-10 22.16.37  We were back at Mattermark HQ in the Mission again this month, with four full tables of 32 players!  It was hard not to notice that Team Mattermark is quickly expanding to fill their space — which is awesome.   But a few more headcount and we’ll be playing poker in the hallways.

I blame myself for being too distracted at the beginning of the night, but we neglected to do company announcements; we’ll rectify that next month so be prepared to share some news (good stuff or hard stuff) or make an ask and snag the 1,000 chip bonus.

A few of my favorite things from this month’s event:

  • It was a really nice pot again, with more than half the crew buying in at the Big Dog level.  If this keeps up I’m gonna have to actually start trying to win.  🙂
  • About half the crowd were new faces so I got to meet a bunch of new folks… which means everyone else met a bunch of new folks too.
  • Three women at the tables — about almost 10%.  That’s an OK start… but let’s double that… soon. Hope to see Rebecca Goberstein and Maran Nelson next month!

Sponsors make Startup Poker 2.0 possible, so a huge thanks to Kellam Nelson and Carson Kennedy from Colliers International and to Michael Brown from Fenwick & West.  Say thanks when you see them and give them a chance to help you out if you’re looking for space or a lawyer.  Kudos to Kellam and

Carson for ponying up nice bottles or Glennfidich 12 for their bounties and Danielle for putting a nice bottle of Jack Danielles Single Barrel on her own head.  In a rare show of poker prowess, Joey Shurtleff pick off BOTH bottles of Glenfiddich!

While Danielle was out of the winners circle this time, Team Mattermark certainly made the most of their home field advantage.  Here’s how it all went down.
